HealthHub a holistic way for S’poreans to manage health
We thank Mr Cheang Peng Wah for sharing his views in “Adopt booklet system to holistically manage S’poreans’ health” (Dec 3).
Since 1984, every child born in Singapore has been issued the Child Health Booklet from birth to record the child’s important health information, such as immunisation records, developmental milestones, height and weight measurements and Body Mass Index.
The booklet also captures health screening conducted in schools by the School Health Service, oral health information, visits to the doctor, allergies and medical conditions.
The Government has also been focusing on building a Smart Nation by harnessing information technology to improve lives, create more opportunities and build stronger communities.
Last year, the Ministry of Health and the Health Promotion Board thus launched HealthHub, Singapore’s first one-stop online health information and services portal and mobile application.
It provides access to localised and citizen-centric content, key medical records and e-services at Singaporeans’ fingertips. The initiative aims to encourage the adoption of healthy habits and nudge Singaporeans to take greater ownership of their health and wellness.
With user inputs, HealthHub can develop into a must-have companion for healthy living. Since its launch, over 56,000 Singaporeans have downloaded the app to receive health-related information and use online services to manage their health conditions better.
HealthHub enables users to retrieve personal information such as hospital discharge summary, lab test results (chronic diseases), screening records and medical appointments from Singapore’s public healthcare institutions, via SingPass. Such information is retrieved from multiple sources.
This includes the National Electronic Health Record, which integrates and shares medical records nationwide to support the seamless delivery of patient care, and the National Immunisation Registry, which monitors and ensures that every child gets immunised at the appropriate time.
Clinicians update information on these platforms regularly.
In a continued effort to help Singaporeans take ownership of their health, HealthHub recently extended its service to enable care receivers to grant designated carers access to their personal medical records and appointments.
This feature, which was developed following public feedback, will reduce time needed for record keeping and appointment tracking, and will provide convenience and administrative support for about 210,000 regular carers of family members and patients.
The HealthHub portal can be accessed at www.healthhub.sg and the new Caregiver Access Module is available at www.healthhub.sg/programmes/106/caregiver-how-to-grant-access
Singaporeans can also access the content and features via the free HealthHub and myHealthHub mobile apps.
