Set aside bonuses for frontline medical workers after Covid-19 is contained

No words are enough to express our appreciation for the sacrifice, selflessness, bravery and efforts of our medical workers on the frontlines of the Covid-19 outbreak here.

We need to match our words with action.

On Feb 18, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat will deliver Singapore’s Budget, which will include measures to deal with the fallout from the virus.

I suggest that the Ministry of Health reward frontline medical workers with extra bonuses — a two-month bonus for those whose wages are below S$5,000 and a one-month payout for those earning S$5,000 or more — payable after the outbreak is declared to be contained.

I am sure our taxpayers would be more than happy to channel their contributions towards this act of gratitude this Valentine’s Day season.

A big thank-you to our frontline medical workers from the bottom of our hearts.
