Candidates who don’t secure at least 12.5% of the vote are set to lose their $13,500 election deposit. For this GE2025, a record 27 candidates will forfeit their deposits. That will amount to $364,500. It’s the highest number ever, surpassing the previous record of 22 back in 1972. So, where does all that money go?
