Raymond Khoo, founder of The Saturday Movement charity organisation, shares the moving encounters with the vulnerable residents of Lengkok Bahru's rental flats, that spurred him into action. Raymond — who also runs a Peranakan restaurant — and his volunteers have been preparing hot and delicious community lunches for the needy elderly every Saturday since 2011. Along with it, they give their beneficiaries a precious experience of togetherness. Raymond shares how this journey has reshaped his own perspectives on gratitude and service.

Last Sunday afternoon, the wheels of a woman’s stroller got stuck between the steps of an escalator at HarbourFront Centre, which then became dislodged. No one, including the woman and her baby, was hurt. While there isn’t a law disallowing the use of strollers on escalators in Singapore, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) strongly discourages the practice.
