Daily Cuts - Cheong Soo Pieng: Layer by Layer
Melanie Oliveiro finds out more about the latest National Gallery Singapore (NGS) exhibition ‘Cheong Soo Pieng: Layer by Layer’ which presents over 30 paintings by Cheong from the 1950s to the 1980s. What sets this exhibition apart from most is that it uses in-depth scientific material analysis – from x-ray scans to infrared photography - to reveal insights into Cheong’s artistic processes and innovative use of materials. NGS Curator Teo Hui Min and BARC Labs’ Dr Diana Tay will discuss how they worked together to showcase the science of material analysis when it comes to Cheong’s artwork.
