Singapore’s parliament voted unanimously to pass the Maintenance of Racial Harmony Act, after an hours-long debate. An accompanying constitutional amendment to update the president’s powers in implementing the Act, meanwhile, was rejected by seven Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Workers’ Party.
