The US surgeon general calls for cancer warning labels on alcoholic beverages, following growing research that has linked drinking, sometimes even within the recommended limits, to various types of cancer. He called for updating the labels to include a heightened risk of breast cancer, colon cancer and at least five other malignancies now linked by scientific studies to alcohol consumption.
