Daily Cuts - NASA unveils findings from asteroid Bennu

About 18 days ago, NASA’s OSIRIS-REx returned to Earth to drop off material from asteroid Bennu. This is the first U.S. mission to collect a sample from an asteroid, which is about 200 million miles away. The samples from the asteroid contained abundant water in the form of hydrated clay minerals and molecules. 5% of the asteroid was made up of carbon, which is the "highest abundance of carbon measured in any extra-terrestrial sample". Dr Brad Tucker, Astrophysicist and Cosmologist, ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics explains the significance of this for our future.
