Daily Cuts - NDR2024: Reprieve for retrenched workers under new temporary financial support scheme

Some reprieve for those who are involuntarily unemployed in the form of an interim financial support under an upcoming new scheme. The SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support scheme will provide retrenched workers payouts of up to $6,000 over a maximum period of six months, as they seek out or train for better jobs. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong unveiled these details in his maiden National Day Rally speech on Aug 18 with more information about the scheme to be provided in due course by the Manpower Ministry.
