But a spinal surgery almost took away her ability to walk when she was 21. Motivated by her love for dance, she made an astounding recovery and went on to co-found Maya Dance Theatre in 2007. She later started the Diverse Abilities Dance Collective which empowers individuals living with conditions such as Down's Syndrome.
