CPF investors regret paper losses

The writer of “Mistake to gamble CPF funds in the stock market” (Jan 8) is correct to mention that many investors get their fingers burnt in the Central Provident Fund Investment Scheme.

Many of us who bought stocks when CPF members were allowed to invest under the scheme are still stuck with paper losses. If the funds had not been approved then for such investments, we would have more money in our retirement account. I believe many of us regret touching our funds for such investments.

I was as surprised as the writer about the call to invest CPF monies in local shares. These sacred monies that were deducted mandatorily for savings should indeed not be gambled away.
