I refer to Singapore’s 0-2 defeat by Myanmar and the 0-7 defeat by Australia in the Asian Football Confederation U-23 qualifiers (“S’pore crash out of AFC U-23 qualifiers after Australia mauling”; July 21, online).

After the many defeats since he took over, it should be clear by now that coach Richard Tardy is not suited to lead our team. I do not see him offering ideas that have improved the side thus far.

Considering this, I hope that the new Football Association of Singapore council will rectify the situation quickly and give our local coaches a chance to lead the team instead.

Hougang United’s Philippe Aw is an up-and-coming coach with an attractive style of play. More importantly, he is a proponent of developing young, promising players (“New Hougang head coach Philippe Aw to focus on youth”; Jan 3).

A similar example would be Geylang International coach Noor Ali.
