Incongruous for Jewel to expect eateries to open till 3am
The writer says it is incongruous for Jewel Changi Airport to expect some eateries to open till 3am, as the Rain Vortex waterfall — its most notable attraction — runs only from 8am to 12.30am.
I refer to the report, "Restaurants on level 5 of Jewel Changi Airport hit hard by requirement to stay open till 3am" (June 14).
It is incongruous for Jewel’s management to expect these restaurants to operate until 3am, since the Rain Vortex waterfall — its most notable attraction — is open only from 8am to 12.30am.
There is good reason for the lack of confidence that the Canopy Park would bring in customers.
The park, which opens until 3am, and features a petal garden, topiary walk and other attractions, is best enjoyed with daylight. Practically all its official publicity photos show daytime scenes.
The low demand during the restaurants' extended opening hours has resulted in resources going to waste. Manpower is what Singapore can least afford to squander.
