Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum deserves greater support

I read the report, “Second wind for Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum at Chinese Gardens” (March 7). The museum serves as a great educational and awareness platform for wildlife appreciation of the many unique species of turtles and tortoises.
Coupled with its history at the Chinese Gardens, I hope that the relevant government agencies will find a suitable site for the museum.
The owner has dedicated effort and energy into saving abandoned turtles and tortoises, which not many individuals or organisations are able or want to do so. This aspect should be taken into consideration in giving her a place to continue her good work.
An alternative site that may be considered would be Haw Par Villa, which has sprawling grounds and is easily reached by MRT for visitors to the attraction.
Since the Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum is an icon at the Chinese Gardens and are loved by visitors, it should ideally be given space there, if possible, after redevelopment.
I urge the authorities to continue to have an open dialogue with the museum owner, and even Singaporeans, in resettling the animals elsewhere.
