We thank Mr Fadzly Othman for his feedback and suggestions on improving the bicycle-sharing experience at industrial areas (“More bike-sharing parking lots needed in industrial areas”; March 8).

JTC continually looks at new ways to enhance the connectivity and accessibility of our estates through a variety of mobility and transport initiatives, one of which is in the area of personal mobility.

We recognise the benefits of bicycle-sharing to the users of our estates, and have been working closely with our customers, bicycle-sharing operators and other agencies to cater to the growing use of this means of transportation.

One of these initiatives was to identify and implement parking zones for shared bicycles within our business parks and industrial estates. The majority of these parking zones are located at high-traffic areas, such as bus stops and canteens.

To date, JTC has designated more than 50 parking zones for shared bicycles across our industrial estates such as AutoBay @ Kaki Bukit, Bukit Batok Industrial Park A, Defu Industrial Estate, Tampines Industrial Park, Tuas Industrial Estate and Ubi Industrial Estate; as well as in specialised and business parks such as CleanTech Park in Jurong Innovation District, one-north and Seletar Aerospace Park.

To further enhance last-mile connectivity, we have also worked with our customers, such as Seagate and Tanglin Trust School, to demarcate designated parking zones for shared bicycles within their premises in one-north. We are currently working on implementing this initiative across all our estates and developments.

We will continue to review public feedback and work closely with the communities in our estates, bicycle-sharing operators and relevant government agencies to support active mobility within our estates and developments.
