Park connector crossing to Boon Lay Way can be made safer for users

I am resident living near the Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden in Jurong and am a frequent user of the parks. It is great to see various developments in these areas for the residents as well as the general public.
The pathway of the park connector network (PCN) from Yuan Ching Road to Boon Lay Way, towards the Chinese Garden MRT Station, is a very popular path for residents and visitors. People usually walk, jog and cycle throughout the week and it gets very busy during weekends.
A segment of this particular PCN, which crosses over the Jurong River for about 50m towards Boon Lay Way, poses immediate danger to users.
Boon Lay Way is a very busy road. However, the PCN segment at the crossing has no barriers to protect someone accidentally veering off the path to Boon Lay Way.
I have seen cyclists (from very old to very young) wobbling along the narrow path as they meet or cross each other along the path. A slight knock between cyclists, or between cyclist and pedestrian, can cause someone to lose control and land herself or himself on the busy road. I dare not to think of the consequences in such a case.
While I have not witnessed any serious accident yet, it is an area where accidents are waiting to happen.
It would be good if the authorities can do a risk assessment of the crossing and take appropriate and immediate steps to make the path a safer place for all.
