Point-to-point bus system could be less-demanding, faster alternative

Singapore should consider doing trials on a Bus Rapid Transit system in which buses operate from one point to another without stopping.

Such a bus system can be implemented quickly and easily, without the need to invest heavily in rail infrastructure, for example.

With dedicated bus lanes and no need to pick up new passengers along the way, these buses would run faster than normal buses.

Examples include those from Punggol interchange to Yishun interchange, Sengkang interchange to Woodlands interchange, et cetera.

Passengers could pay before boarding, at a waiting booth, thus making for faster boarding and disembarking. The bus driver needs to concentrate only on driving.

There are definitely opportunities to supplement our current rail and bus systems, and provide relief from the heavy loads.
