Alvin Tan on survey indicating decline in happiness among Singaporeans

A quality of life survey which found that Singaporeans’ well-being decreased between 2016 and 2022 could be attributed to a variety of factors, including lack of opportunities for interaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are also varying definitions of happiness and the Government is not aware of studies done in Singapore that correlate happiness with mental health needs or issues. However, it has implemented a holistic approach to enhancing mental health and well-being in Singapore through a national strategy unveiled in October 2023. Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Alvin Tan said this in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 6) in answer to an MP’s questions.
