Amy Khor on Daihatsu safety test scandal
No vehicles affected by a scandal involving falsification of crash test results by Japanese maker Daihatsu have been sold or driven in Singapore. Senior Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) checked and found that none of the affected vehicles based on chassis numbers published by Daihatsu have been registered in Singapore to date. The relevant motor dealers have also confirmed that they did not sell any of the affected vehicles. Dealers and importers are mandated under the law to notify LTA and affected owners if there are any cases in future, and take the necessary steps to rectify the defects. In her response to an MP’s question in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 6), Dr Khor said vehicle owners can also check vehicle recalls on LTA’s One Motoring website.
