Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 1: Carrie Tan on visit passes for foreign grandparents
Facilitate visit passes for parents of foreign spouses so that transnational couples can have better access to familial support during pregnancy and for the first three years of their child’s life, urged MP Carrie Tan. She suggested creating a category of visit passes for this, and mandating a "ParentCare fund" through savings in the CPF account, to mitigate concerns about the potential eldercare burden of allowing aged grandparents to have an extended stay in Singapore. Ms Tan spoke in parliament on Friday (Feb 28).
