The Home Team will not tolerate workplace harassment and racial discrimination. It takes seriously all allegations and will immediately investigate them. It has also put in place safeguards to deter such behaviour. Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim reiterated this position in a speech in Malay highlighting the key points outlined by Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam in his ministerial statement on allegations surrounding the suicide of Sgt Uvaraja Gopal in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 6). Dr Faishal said investigations found that most of the allegations, such as ill-treatment, bullying and unfairness, were false. Where the complaints were substantiated, appropriate actions had already been taken, with the errant officers taken to task. The Attorney-General's Chambers has reviewed the findings and decided that no further action needs to be taken. Mr Shanmugam has also reviewed the findings.
