Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim on stay passes for foreign spouses
There is no need to create a special category of entry or stay pass for foreign spouses of low-wage and aged Singaporeans to enable them to remain in the country to care for their spouses and work at the same time. This is because the granting of Long-Term Visit Passes is assessed individually, taking into account “unique considerations” such as caregiving needs. Other factors are the length of marriage, whether there are children, whether the Singaporean can support the spouse financially and whether either or both have adverse records. Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said this in Parliament on Thursday (Aug 3) in reply to an MP’s questions.
