Xie Yao Quan on motion calling for clear and achievable goals for sporting success
“Sports is a mirror reflecting the heart and soul of a nation”, said MP Xie Yao Quan in Parliament on Thursday (Jul 6). He said it reflects people’s values - whether they only celebrate success or value equally, perhaps more, the pursuit of excellence. It must also be a national project in which everyone - including athletes, individual and corporate supporters, civic society and the Government - comes together to support different sports in different ways. Specifically, Mr Xie said he was glad to see that more is being done in Singapore for emerging and niche sports such as skydiving, skateboarding and tchoukball.
