The Japanese economy grew faster than expected in the fourth quarter of 2024, off the back of improving business spending and a surprise increase in consumption. This was a turnaround when Japan lost its place as the world’s third-largest economy previously as it unexpectedly slipped into a recession. The country also welcomed the most visitors in history in 2024 with more than 36.8 million people visiting for business or leisure.
