After about 150 days, the end of the writers' strike in Hollywood might come soon. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have reached a tentative agreement. But, the two parties are still drafting the final contract language. The WGA says the deal is exceptional – with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership. Asia First’s Arnold Gay and Andrea Heng spoke with Stephen Galloway, Dean of Chapman University’s Film school, who told them if this deal will be helpful in getting them to return to the negotiating table.

Daily Cuts - Staying safe while gaming online

In line with Singapore’s growing reputation as an E-sports hub, an international symposium organised by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is taking place on 22 September to discuss safety in e-sports and online gaming, particularly, the gamification of extremist views and hate speech. Daily Cuts - What goes on during a bomb disposal?

A 100-kilogram World War II bomb found at a construction site in Upper Bukit Timah Road will be destroyed today. With the area being home to several condominiums and shophouses, some 4,000 residents and stakeholders in the area evacuated before the disposal began. Daily Cuts - Invasive species may threaten Singapore's flora and fauna

Recent reports have highlighted the issue of invasive species of plants and animals that threaten Singapore’s flora and fauna. To tackle the issue, WWF-Singapore organizes an “invasive species management” event at the Rail Corridor, where volunteers uproot weeds that threaten the native flora every third Friday of the month. Asia First’s Arnold Gay and Andrea Heng spoke with Jayasri Lakshminarayanan, head of education and outreach at WWF-Singapore, who shared more about the impact of invasive species.
