We thank Mr Young Pak Nang for his letter, “Extend validity of annual travel insurance plans for free amid Covid-19 travel restrictions” (April 28).

The priority of the general insurance sector is to ensure that affected customers who hold annual travel insurance policies but are unable to travel are provided with suitable policy adjustment options.

Policyholders have the option of cancelling their annual travel insurance policies with a partial refund if no claim has been made.

Customers who wish to do this should contact their respective insurers for more information and assistance.

This provides our customers with a practical way of easing their financial burden in the immediate term. As travel restrictions ease across the globe, general insurers will also ensure that travel protection needs will be met.
