The Ministry of Education (MOE) recognises that artificial intelligence (AI) will become increasingly pervasive in the workplace and in our daily lives, said Education Minister Chan Chun Sing. Replying to Parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Jan 9), he said MOE prepares students by developing their foundational knowledge of AI and promoting its safe and responsible use in schools and Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs). He said they are provided with guidance, resources and training to effectively harness AI to enhance learning. Students also have opportunities to further their learning through school-based programmes. Schools and IHLs also have measures to guard against the risks of AI and teach cyber wellness skills, such as evaluating information and identifying fake news. Mr Chan also highlighted the programmes and initiatives in which AI is used in schools and the IHLs, according to the age-appropriate level.
