Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 2: Alex Yam on big power contestation
There is a "troubling resurgence" of big power contestation and the rising possibility of a hot war with leaders who appear increasingly dismissive of international laws and norms, said MP Alex Yam. Smaller states like Singapore cannot afford to be complacent, he said in parliament on Monday (Mar 3). Stressing the need for Singapore to stay resolute and stand its ground, he wanted to know how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assesses Singapore’s place and how can it prepare Singaporeans for a new world order.
