Timor-Leste president talks about nation's ASEAN entry, political stability
Timor-Leste's president Jose Ramos-Horta says his country will be ready to host its first Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in 2029. Ramos-Horta spoke exclusively to CNA's Saifulbahri Ismail in Dili, as Timor Leste prepares to be formally admitted into the regional grouping next month in Kuala Lumpur. The president added that as ASEAN’s newest member, Timor-Leste hopes to play a role in strengthening the bloc’s mechanisms, including conflict prevention.
