Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 2: Don Wee on Singapore’s relations with ASEAN
In parliament on Monday (Mar 3), MP Don Wee asked the Foreign Affairs Minister to outline Singapore’s efforts to strengthen ties with Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, which are part of ASEAN. He also asked the ministry to share an update on the recent initiatives of the ASEAN community, comprising the ASEAN Political Security Community, the ASEAN Economic Community, as well as the ASEAN Social Cultural Community. He also wanted to know what are some key areas for cooperation between Singapore and its ASEAN partners, and asked how the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone would enhance opportunities for Singapore businesses.
