Servicemen have to respond to a wide range of emergencies and threat scenarios and this is particularly challenging for those who are not soldiers by profession, said MP Gan Thiam Poh. Yet, they must be adequately equipped to perform their roles effectively in situations which can change from peacetime response to wartime contingencies, he said in parliament on Monday (Mar 3). Mr Gan wanted to know more about the ongoing efforts to prepare servicemen for their roles.
