Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 2: Mariam Jaafar on youth drug abuse and social media platforms for scams

Youth drug abuse continues to thrive despite Singapore's strict laws, as more young people are experimenting with drugs, said MP Mariam Jaafar. She stressed the need to strengthen early intervention, as well as prevention, enforcement and rehabilitation. She wanted to know what steps are being taken to ensure that youths stay drug-free. Speaking in parliament on Monday (Mar 3), she also warned that some social media platforms remain a key way for scammers to reach their victims. She asked for an update on the efforts against scams.
