Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 3: Murali Pillai on protecting victims of online harms and optimising use of state land

19:22 Min

The government is working on new legislation to better protect victims of online harms. This will include setting up a new agency to act quickly on complaints, clarifying the types of online harms for which victims can seek recourse, and addressing the “misuse of anonymity” by allowing victims to request a perpetrator’s user information for legal proceedings. Minister of State for Law Murali Pillai gave these details in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 4). He also spoke about the “effective and imaginative” use of state land resources to meet changing needs. The Singapore Land Authority plans to launch a tender for 20 heritage properties at Admiralty Road East for multi-generational co-living. It will also allow more state properties to be transformed for community and social uses.
