Leong Mun Wai on Parliament's handling of MPs under investigation
Progress Singapore Party agrees with paying people well to stay corruption-free but it also believes that when a minister or parliamentarian is being investigated for corruption, he or she should be suspended from duty and not be paid for the time being, said NCMP Leong Mun Wai. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 19), he said if the parliamentarian or minister is found to be innocent, then the full amount of the pay due to him or her during the unpaid leave period should be paid back. Suspending the duties and allowance is temporary, he added. Mr Leong said the Government has the responsibility to prudently use taxpayers’ money and prevent their money from being misused.
