Louis Ng on Energy Transition Measures and Other Amendments Bill

06:58 Min

The Energy Transition Measures and Other Amendments Bill will strengthen Singapore’s regulatory regime for the energy market and is a positive move that supports decarbonisation while ensuring energy security and keeping power cost competitive, said MP Louis Ng. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Sep 9), he also sought clarifications on the Bill. One of them relates to the Future Energy Fund. He wanted to know how the initial injection of S$5 billion was derived and the timeframe for the utilisation of this amount. He also wanted to know when the Government is expected to make the next injection and whether it anticipates making smaller and more frequent future injections or relatively infrequent but large injections. Turning to the prudent use of the funds and oversight of projects, he asked for details on the safeguards that will be put in place to ensure transparency and public accountability.
