Singapore saw over 3,800 traffic accidents resulting in injuries and fatalities in H1 2025
There were over 3,800 road accidents in Singapore that resulted in injuries and fatalities in the first half of 2025 — a nearly 9% jump compared to the same period last year. Vulnerable road users, such as the elderly and motorcyclists, accounted for a disproportionate number of related injuries and deaths. Meanwhile, there were more accidents involving motorcyclists and pillion riders than any other road users. To improve safety, the traffic police will update motorcycle helmet standards to align with international best practices. Charlotte Lim and Rachel Teng report.
