Syed Harun Alhabsyi on MediShield Life Scheme (Amendment) Bill
Private sector medical practitioners should be more closely engaged and better supported to ensure they can cope with the “cumulative impact of regulatory and legislative changes being done in relative quick succession”, said NMP Syed Harun Alhabsyi in Parliament on Monday (Nov 11). Those in smaller and single clinics may be disproportionately affected, he said. Dr Harun gave the examples of changes to MediShield Life, the upcoming Health Information Bill and sharing of patient health records across the public and private sectors, as well as ongoing implementation of Healthier SG. He noted that those in the private sector already make up about a third of registered medical practitioners, and their involvement under MediShield Life is only likely to increase with the shifting of care from inpatient to outpatient, home and community settings.
