Singapore and the US aim to strengthen defence cooperation, as Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth met at the Pentagon. Mr Chan noted that Singapore's acquisition of 20 F-35 aircraft are on track for delivery from end-2026. The US will also help Singapore set up a new training detachment at Ebbing, Arkansas for the incoming fleet. In the first phase to refresh Singapore's defence capabilities, four Boeing P-8A maritime patrol aircraft will be acquired. This will strengthen the Singapore Armed Forces' maritime situation awareness and ability to counter underwater threats.
