Tan Kiat How on pet abduction and theft

02:44 Min

Abducting a pet from its owners may be regarded as theft and such cases should be reported to the police, said Senior Minister of State for National Development Tan Kiat How. Over the past two years, NParks has not encountered any such case, he said in reply to an MP’s question in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 22). Turning to community cats, he pointed out that they live in the open and roam freely, making it challenging to trace their exact whereabouts. There are various reasons why a community cat could go missing, such as succumbing to health and safety risks. If there are reasonable grounds to believe that a community cat has been abused or mistreated, NParks will investigate and take the appropriate enforcement action, he said.
