Insurer Prudential logs 12% rise in first-quarter profit

Prudential PLC on Wednesday reported a 12 per cent rise in new business profit for the first quarter, as the Asia-focused insurer benefited from strong performance from all its segments.
The London and Hong Kong dual-listed company posted new business profit, on a traditional embedded value basis, of $608 million for the three months ended March 31.
