One in six inmates in Singapore is now aged 60 or older, up from one in 10 in 2019. Daniel Martin spoke to Quentin Lee, Assistant Director and Lead Psychologist from the Psychological and Correctional Rehabilitation Division at Singapore Prison Service, who is involved in the National Committee on Preventing Offending and Re-offending sub-group studying support for elderly offenders and ex-offenders. They discussed what’s behind the growing number of elderly inmates, and what it takes to break the cycle of offending and re-offending.
