CNA938 Rewind - ‘City of Others: Asian Artists in Paris, 1920s-1940s’
In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro explores ‘City of Others: Asian Artists in Paris, 1920s-1940s’, a new art exhibition at the National Gallery Singapore (NGS). Featuring over 200 artworks and 200 archives, the exhibition delves into the lives and talents of Asian artists in Paris in the early 1900s. Featuring artworks by Singapore’s Georgette Chen, Foujita Tsuguharu and Lê Phổ, NGS curators Dr Phoebe Scott and Teo Hui Min explain how the artworks show the ways these Asian artists lived, worked and exhibited in Paris and what it meant to be the ‘other’.
