A summit is being held in Hong Kong to mark 10 years since Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was launched. However, bumps have appeared. Italy is reportedly preparing to withdraw. The EU, Middle East, and India are in discussions to form a similar initiative that could rival the BRI. And China’s economic slowdown is affecting confidence in its ability to continue supporting major projects.
