Daily Cuts - Candidates announced for Indonesia's Presidential election
Candidates for Indonesia’s presidency and vice-presidency have been announced with a three-cornered fight taking place – the first in 15 years. The stiffer competition means candidates will have to develop strong programmes to win over more than 200 million voters as they head to the polls next February. But this could also lead to polarisation within Indonesian society. CNA938’s Arnold Gay and Andrea Heng spoke with Dr Deasy Simand-juntak, Associate Fellow, Indonesia Studies Programme, ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute. She told us how this election will differ from the last three-horse race in 2009.
