2 S'porean quarantine order officers among 741 new Covid-19 cases on May 7

SINGAPORE — Two quarantine order officers are among the 741 new Covid-19 infections announced by the Ministry of Health on Thursday (May 7), bringing the total number of cases here to 20,939.
The two Singaporean men — known as cases 20,542 and 20,576 — are aged 36 and 23 respectively and had served quarantine orders at various dormitories.
Case 20,542 had onset symptoms on Tuesday and was confirmed to be infected on Wednesday.
Case 20,576 experienced onset symptoms on April 30, and his infection was also confirmed on Wednesday. MOH said that no link has currently been established between both these cases. It did not reveal which dormitories they had visited.
The Ministry also announced that a 43-year-old male Singaporean who works as a radiographer at the community care facility at Singapore Expo has been infected with Covid-19.
He is the fourth person from the public healthcare sector who worked or volunteered at the facility to have tested positive. He has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions. His infection was confirmed on Thursday, and he is currently warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).
MOH told TODAY earlier that it was investigating whether there were any links between the first three cases at the Expo.
The radiographer was among seven community cases — five Singaporeans and two work pass holders — announced on Thursday.
Another 725 cases involved work permit holders residing in dormitories while nine cases are work permit holders residing outside dormitories.
There were no imported cases and two public healthcare sector cases reported on Thursday.
Besides the radiographer, the other infected healthcare worker is a 33-year-old Singaporean woman, Case 20,737. She was confirmed to be infected on Wednesday, and is currently warded at the NCID.
Prior to hospital admission, she had gone to work “for a few hours” as a healthcare assistant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, MOH said.
Six new clusters of infections have emerged, it added. These are located at 5 Sixth Lok Yang Road, 98 Kaki Bukit Industrial Terrace, 4 Sungei Kadut Avenue, 5 Tech Park Crescent, 3 Tuas Drive 1, and 52 Tuas View Square.
It added that the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 14 cases a day in the week before, to an average of 10 a day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also gone down, from an average of seven cases a day in the week before, to an average of four a day in the past week.
"We will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through our surveillance programme," said MOH.
UPDATE ON THE REST OF THE CONFIRMED CASES
In all, 1,712 have fully recovered from the Covid-19 infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including the 78 discharged on Thursday.
There are currently 1,376 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are in stable condition or improving, and 19 patients are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
MOH said that 17,831 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.
