9 men charged with speeding, overtaking other vehicles recklessly along PIE, CTE

Nine men were charged for speeding and driving recklessly along the Pan-Island Expressway and Central Expressway in Feb 2022.

SINGAPORE — Nine men were charged on Wednesday (Nov 30) with speeding and overtaking other vehicles recklessly on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) and Central Expressway (CTE) on Feb 27 this year at about 2am. 

The nine men are: 

  • Sean Choong Zhi Hong, 38
  • Kenneth Fu Yongli, 32
  • Louis Lee Ren Jun, 26
  • Oh Jia Fu, 27
  • Peh Wei Qiang Lincoln, 26
  • Lim Yu Shun, 28
  • Brian Anthony Yap, 25
  • Khoo Ye Siang Ian, 27
  • Ang Qi Hao Daryl, 27

Choong, Fu and Lee are repeat offenders and were previously convicted of speeding.

According to court documents, the men were driving at speeds of between 137km/h and 155km/h, which is above the speed limit of 90km/h.

Police were alerted to the incident and with the aid of images from police cameras and closed-circuit television footage, they eventually arrested 16 men aged between 25 and 38 on March 9 for their suspected involvement. 

Choong will return to court on Jan 11 next year while the other eight will return on Jan 10 next year. 

Those convicted of dangerous driving can be fined up to S$5,000, jailed up to 12 months, or both. Repeat offenders can be fined up to S$10,000 jailed up to two years, or both. 

The police in a statement on Wednesday said: “The traffic police takes a stern view of such dangerous road behaviour that puts the lives of other road users at risk and will continue to take tough enforcement action against errant motorists who choose to flout traffic rules.”
