SINGAPORE – A cleaner was charged in court on Friday (June 16) with one count of outrage of modesty. 

On Wednesday, at around 7.30pm, Bepari Titu, 36, had allegedly molested a 32-year-old Indonesian woman at the 11th floor lift lobby of a Housing Development Board block in Punggol.

He was arrested on the same day after the woman lodged a police report and the police was able to establish his identity.

For outrage of modesty, Bepari could face a jail term of up to two years, or fined, or caned, or a combination of the punishments. 

On Friday, he said he intends to plead guilty. The court also heard that his bailor had discharged himself, and he would have to find another bailor. 

The Bangladeshi national returns to court on June 30.
