SINGAPORE: Twelve people have been arrested for suspected drug-related activities, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said on Thursday (Aug 5).
The two-day operation netted a variety of drugs with an estimated street value of more than S$152,000.
The authorities seized 624g of Ice, 2,375g of cannabis, 53g of ketamine, 413 ecstasy tablets and fragments, as well as 602 Erimin-5 tablets.
A further 226 lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) stamps, 161g of substances believed to be controlled drugs, and 116 bottles containing liquid believed to be laced with controlled drugs were also confiscated
3 ARRESTED NEAR SERANGOON ROAD, BRADDEL HILL AND JALAN AMPAS
On the evening of Aug 3, CNB officers arrested a 21-year-old man in the Serangoon Road area. A total of about 7g of Ice, 24g of cannabis and four ecstasy tablets were taken from him.
A 29-year-old man was also arrested around the Braddell Hill area. CNB said its officers seized about 100g of cannabis near the man's location.
The same evening, a separate group of CNB officers around Jalan Ampas arrested a 25-year-old man and seized 5g of ketamine from him.
5 ARRESTED NEAR BOON TECK ROAD
Two women, aged 27 and 30, as well as a 24-year-old man, were arrested in the area of Boon Teck Road on Aug 3.
"A search was conducted, and about 2g of ketamine and two bottles containing liquid believed to be laced with controlled drugs were seized from the 30-year-old female," said CNB.
The three suspects were taken to their hideout in the same area, where a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested for suspected drug activities as well.
On the same day, another group of CNB officers intercepted a vehicle near Bedok North Road. Two men, aged 21 and 22, were arrested for suspected drug trafficking activities.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a total of about 612g of Ice, 2,251g of cannabis, 45g of ketamine, 337 ecstasy tablets and fragments, 544 Erimin-5 tablets, 226 LSD stamps, 161g of substances believed to be controlled drugs, and 114 bottles containing liquid believed to be laced with controlled drugs.
MORE ARRESTED IN WHAMPOA, BEDOK
CNB officers also raided a unit in the Whampoa area on Aug 3 and arrested a 26-year-old man. About 5g of Ice, 1g of ketamine, 72 Ecstasy tablets, and 58 Erimin-5 tablets were recovered.
The next day, officers raided a unit at Bedok South Avenue 2 where they arrested a 27-year-old man.
Investigations into the drug activities of all suspects are ongoing.
This is CNB’s second anti-drug operation targeted at drug syndicates in a week. Last Tuesday, the authorities arrested eight suspected drug offenders and seized various contraband with a street value of nearly S$749,000.
The total amount of Ice and cannabis seized from both anti-drug operations are sufficient to feed the addiction of more than 2,150 abusers for a week, said CNB.
"CNB will continue with our targeted operations against drug syndicates to prevent drugs from flowing into the streets," it added.
