End of an icon as Hard Rock Cafe’s Cadillac is removed

SINGAPORE – For over a quarter of a century, it has been a local landmark in Cuscaden Road. However, the iconic Cadillac that has perched precariously over the entrance of the Hard Rock Cafe is no more.
It was removed by crane on Monday (May 16) afternoon and given to Mr Kumar Balasingh, who paid S$25 for the chance to win the car in a raffle. He will not, however, be driving it home because the 1961 Cadillac Series 62 Deville has no engine.
The restaurant raffled off the car ahead of renovations that are slated to be completed in August. All proceeds from the raffle will go to residential children’s home, Melrose Home, which is run by the Children’s Aid Society.
A temporary shop selling Hard Rock Cafe memorabilia has been set up in the basement of Forum Shopping Mall. Fans of the restaurant can continue go to outlets on Sentosa and Changi Airport Terminal 3.
