Malaysia Chief of Navy makes introductory visit
SINGAPORE — Malaysian Chief of Navy Admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Haji Ahmad Badaruddin has made an introductory visit to Singapore, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said on Wednesday (Feb 17).
On his visit, ADM Kamarulzaman called on Singapore’s Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen, as well as Chief of Defence Force Major-General Perry Lim and Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Lai Chung Han on Wednesday.
The Malaysian Chief of Navy is here on a visit from Feb 14 to 17. As part of his programme, he also visited the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre, and the Republic of Singapore Navy’s Training Command on Monday.
ADM Kamarulzaman also attended the Singapore Airshow 2016’s opening ceremony on Tuesday, where he viewed the aerial displays.
“ADM Kamarulzaman’s visit underscores the warm and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Malaysia. The RSN and the Royal Malaysian Navy interact regularly through bilateral exercises, visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses, as well as through multilateral activities under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements,” MINDEF said.
“The two navies also work closely to enhance regional maritime security through the Malacca Strait Patrols,” added the ministry. “These interactions have contributed significantly towards strengthening mutual understanding and professional ties between the personnel of the two navies.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
